We are finishing up week 5 of our drama classes at Bazil Grumble and rehearsals for the Secret Swooping Magpies performance are in full swing!
Teachers and students have been working very hard on using the drama skills built upon from last term to create a wonderful performance for family and friends to enjoy at the end of term! This week they have been working on choreography for their Magpie or Crow theme songs and adding special character flairs to bring their beautiful bird characters to life!
While we everyone is working really hard in the classroom, there is a lot that can be done at home to help smooth out any performance jitters:
- Help your child practise their lines at home so they can feel more comfortable being on stage. Click here to see our blog post about learning lines.
- Act out the scenes with your child. Let them hear you use character voices. Laugh together and have fun with the script! ‘Playing’ with our children creates wonderful memories.
- Encourage your child add their own expressions and character traits to help them further connect with the performance
- Ask them to show you their dances that they have learnt in class
Costumes!
The dress rehearsals are right around the corner and we ask that children bring in their costumes so that teachers can check them as well as give the children the opportunity to practise in their costumes. Dress rehearsal is a very exciting day and helps the children love to see everyone dressed up!
- Secret Agent Magpies are asked to provide a white shirt and black pants
- Spy crows are asked to provide a black shirt and black pants

- Dress Rehearsal will be Wednesday 7 June.

- Dress Rehearsal will be Monday 12 June.
- Performance will be Monday 19 June at 3:45pm in the Hall.
- Indooroopilly Shining Stars and Masterclass (Monday)
- Dress Rehearsal will be Monday 12 June
- Performance will be Monday 19 June. The running order for the afternoon is as follows:
- The students will be collected by their teachers and brought to the Moore Park Baptist Church Hall as per normal
- The students will start their lesson at the normal time as this will give them an opportunity to have afternoon tea, change into their costume, have a quick run-through of the performance and settle last minute nerves.
- The Bazil Grumble teacher will then invite all family and friends into the room just before 3:50pm.
- The Masterclass will perform from 3:50pm to 4:10pm;
- The Shining Stars will perform from 4:15pm to 4:35pm.
- Teachers will give a brief end of term speech and hand out prizes and certificates to all students. Class will finish at the normal time.
- Indooroopilly Shining Stars and Masterclass (Thursday)
- Dress Rehearsal will be Thursday 8 June.
- Performance will be Thursday 15 June at 4:00pm in the Moore Park Baptist Church Hall. A Fun, Games and Reflection lesson will be held the following week.

- Dress Rehearsal will be Friday 9 June.
- Performance will be Friday 16 June at 3:45pm in the Guidance Officer Room.
