Kids College Queensland Explorama is back! This popular event is aimed at providing primary and lower secondary aged students with a full day of critical thinking, problem solving and creativity. This event is is held at the University of Queensland on Sunday 29 March from 8.45am – 3pm. This year we are featuring our ever popular clay animation and drama workshops!
Animation Mash Up – Clay Animation AWESOMENESS! (Grades 4, 5, 6 & 7)
Come and get ANIMATED!
Create your own stop motion animation from the ground up and bring your creative ideas to the screen using a mixture of both 3D objects and plasticine. Starting with character development and storytelling, through to a finished animation masterpiece using the latest animation software, the Animation Mash Up workshop covers all the secrets to bring animation to life, 3D modelling, storyboarding, video production, set and prop construction and animation concept development. Do you have what it takes to create an animation mash up that will take your creativity to a whole new level! No experience required, just plenty of imagination.

A Play in a Day – The Lorax (Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6)
Participants in this workshop will have a fantastic time acting out the playful and hopeful Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax. In this cautionary rhyming tale, we learn of the Once-ler who harvests all the trees and changes the landscape forever. Exploration of this theme through drama will offer many opportunities for creative expression and remind participants of the importance of seeing beauty in the world around us and how we all have a responsibility to protect it. In a fun, supportive and energetic learning environment, students will develop their speech and drama skills. They will learn about clear and effective speech and how to use pace, pause, emphasis, intonation and enunciation, as well as posture, breathing and stage presence to be an effective communicator. At the end of the workshop, there will be a performance of The Lorax for family to enjoy!
