Bazil Grumble have had a fantastic 2019 with wonderful performances, many new and returning students, dedicated teaching team and lots of fun! In Semester 1, 2019 we adapted Roald Dahl’s classic story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Teachers guided and supported the students as they used their imagination to explore the marvellous and mysterious world of Charlie, Grandpa Joe, the Oompa-Loompas and, of course, Willy Wonka.
“The class is an absolute joy to teach. The students are committed to improvement and have each set goals for themselves that are manageable and measurable. Having a term with a focus on skills development before we launch into rehearsals has been extremely beneficial.” Miss Fiona, St John’s Masterclass
In Semester 2, we explored the much-loved tale of Aladdin, focusing on themes of strength from within, intelligence, perseverance, freedom and friendship. Students refined their skills in many areas and learnt all about clear and effective speech, how to use pace, pause, emphasis, intonation and enunciation, as well as posture, breathing and stage presence. Students were encouraged to achieve their very best in our supportive environment and we are very proud of the effort of every single one of our students.
“Before starting their dress rehearsal, I mentioned to the students that I was going to say a little speech about what they have been learning. The students started calling out suggestions like “projection”, “characterisation”, “tone”, “pitch”. I was very impressed with how they remembered the drama terminology we have been using throughout the term” Miss Amelia, Coorparoo Masterclass.
To all our year 6 students who will be graduating and embarking on their next chapter of high school, we would love to wish you all the best. We know you are going to be amazing!
